Argos Translate is a free, open-source offline machine translation application that lets you translate text between languages without an internet connection. Built on the OpenNMT neural translation engine, it provides high-quality translations while keeping your data completely private and local.
Unlike cloud-based translation services, Argos Translate runs entirely on your device. Language packs are downloaded once and then available offline, making it ideal for travelers, privacy-conscious users, and anyone working in environments without reliable internet access.
Argos Translate supports dozens of language pairs and can be used as a standalone desktop application or integrated into other projects via its Python API. It is also the translation engine behind the LibreTranslate self-hosted translation server.
